Ceiling Tile Calculator FAQs

How do I calculate how many ceiling tiles I need?

Multiply the room length by the room width to get the area in square metres. Divide this by the coverage of one tile, then round up to a whole tile quantity.

Should I add wastage when ordering ceiling tiles?

Yes. A 5% wastage allowance is usually sensible for cuts, handling damage and future replacements. Awkward rooms may need around 10%.

What size are standard suspended ceiling tiles?

The most common UK suspended ceiling tile size is 600x600mm. Larger 1200x600mm tiles are also used in many commercial grid systems.

Can I use this calculator for replacement ceiling tiles?

Yes. Measure the room area, select the existing tile size and use the result as a guide. If you only need to replace damaged tiles, count the existing damaged tiles directly.
